LPA Hike 10 June

May 22, 2018

Come join us on the first Las Placitas Associatio(LPA) lead hike of 2018. The hike will take place on the Strip Mine Trail here in Placitas. The trail is a 3.6 mile loop that has a total elevation gain of just 449 feet. The trail features beautiful wildflowers, nice views and maybe some wildlife and is good for all skill levels.

We will meet in the Merc parking lot on NM 165 off I-25 at exit 242 at 8:55 on Sunday 10 June for a 9 o’clock departure.

Wear good hiking shoes/boots, bring a hat, sunscreen and possibly a hiking stick. We will provide the water.

Mark your calendars as the second hike will be on 12 August hiking to the Paliza Canyon Goblin Colony.

The hope of the future lies not in curbing the influence of human occupancy – it is already too late for that – but in creating a better understanding of the extent of that influence and a new ethic for its governance.
