Sandoval County Oil and Gas Ordinance

February 21, 2018

The January issue of the Sandoval Signpost has about a good a summary on this issue as we have read: “Progress on county oil and gas ordinance hits sudden U-turn” by Bill Diven. You can read it here.

This short presentation on YouTube illustrates why fracking (oil and gas drilling) in this area would be potentially disastrous for our drinking water.    This is the issue in front of the Sandoval County Commission — how to build an adequate ordinance to control O&G drilling in the county.   Please take 37 minutes to watch this.

The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land… In short, a land ethic changes the role of Homo sapiens from conqueror of the land-community to plain member and citizen of it. It implies respect for his fellow-members, and also respect for the community as such.
